Brief History:
Brian was born in Gisbourne and moved to Wairoa in 1933. Lived in Wairoa until
1938 and moved to
Hastings. Joined J force
in 1947 No.829043 2nd NZEF and occupied Japan for 18 months (47 and 48).
He was
a member of the 22 Btn
stationed firstly Yamaguchi and Higi.
Returned to Tomona freezing works (for 4 months) and moved to Wellington for re-habilation
as a
Painter and paper hanger. 18 months later joined K-force - Army No.206607 (1951 to July 1953) based
in
Korea, mostly spent
at Hmjim river. Graveyard is in the town of Pusan. (Lyn Murray of Pahiatua,
Wairapa is buried at
Posan, friends from Tomona).
Married Elizabeth McGrath and raised a family in Tokoroa (33 Papanui St.).
Joined New Zealand Electricity in 1961 and worked in Tui, Wairaki, Meremere and
Penrose
electricity department
before retiring on his 59th birthday.
Now residing in Rotorua, New Zealand.
