Memoirs
[quote] I spent 4 years in the Post office job, left to marry Henry Callahan
in May 1921.
Went to live in Manutuke for four years, four months after marriage I took on
the rearing of
Rose Ellen Callahan aged 2 months. Her mother was dying of TB Lung trouble. My
first daughter
was born on November 17th 1922. I took Rose and my baby Vivie to Nelson to see
Roses relations.
Left Gisborne by boat to Napier.... my brother in law (Jim Callahan) married
again and after
their first child (Verna) was born decided to take Rose back but she always right
to her death at the
age of 60 looked on me as her mother, we never lost touch. [end of quote]. The
following photos
were taken on that trip -
Rose (Clifford) -
Standing - Aged 1/2
